Tramore River Community Project
- The organisation has been founded by Togher Tidy Towns Ballyphehane Tidy Towns, Douglas Tidy Towns, and Turner’s Cross Climate Action Group with support from Local Authorities Water program (LAWPRO) and Cork City Council.
- Any funds received will be used for Water Testing, Equipment, Waste Removal, Signage, Workshops and Promotion
- We want to develop our understanding of the Tramore River catchment area and the impact our actions have in terms of water quality and biodiversity on the river and to encourage communities to change their behaviour for the betterment of all now and in the future
- The main objective of Togher Tidy Towns is to develop and implement a plan of action that will protect and improve the Tramore River into the future by gathering information about possible sources of pollution and waste
- We want to support local ecosystems so that plants, animals, fish, insects, etc. that depend on having healthy water can thrive and flourish
- This project is vital to improve the quality of the water, ensuring pollution and waste is reduced and where possible eradicated.
- We will work with the founding groups and other local partners, experts and communities, as well as Cork City Council, promoting civic responsibility and voluntary work through the development and implementation of the action plan
- This project will impact up to 100 thousand people across Togher, Ballyphehane, Turners Cross and Douglas, providing an area that the local communities can explore and enjoy across the south of Cork City.
