The Little Egret is a small white heron that can be recognised by its elegant white feathers, slender body, black beak and long black legs. It often wades through shallow water looking for food such as small fish, insects and crustaceans. These birds are commonly found in wetlands, marshes, lagoons and other shallow water habitats across Ireland
Our Togher Tidy Towns volunteers team have been lucky enough to spot Little Egrets in and around our local area, which is a wonderful sign of wildlife in our community.

However, keeping our environment clean is essential if we want these beautiful birds and other wildlife to continue visiting and living in our area. Litter left in green spaces, waterways and natural habitats can harm wildlife and damage the places they depend on.

By respecting nature and taking our rubbish home, we can help ensure that birds like the Little Egret continue to have a safe and healthy home here in Togher.
